Tatazo Food Truck Information

Pulled up to Tatazo Food Truck at 4202 E Veterans Memorial Blvd in Killeen, and it immediately felt like one of those local spots people keep telling you about for a reason. It’s not trying to be fancy, but that’s part of the charm. The setup is simple, the vibe is laid-back, and the focus is clearly on the food. You’ll usually find a small crowd gathered nearby, which is always a good sign when you’re checking out a new place.

The menu leans heavily into bold, satisfying street food flavors, with a mix of Tex-Mex favorites and comfort-style dishes that hit the spot after a long day. I went with a plate of tacos and a loaded burrito, and both delivered big on flavor. The tortillas tasted fresh, the meat was well-seasoned and juicy, and the toppings weren’t just an afterthought-they actually added balance and texture. Their sauces deserve a mention too, especially if you like a bit of heat; there’s a noticeable attention to detail that elevates everything.

What stood out most during my visit was how consistent everything felt. Even though it’s a food truck, the quality rivals many sit-down restaurants in the area. The portions are generous without feeling overdone, and the prices are reasonable, especially considering the portion size and flavor. From what I’ve seen in other reviews and from chatting with a couple of regulars nearby, that consistency is what keeps people coming back.

The location itself is easy to access along Veterans Memorial Blvd, making it a convenient stop whether you’re local or just passing through Killeen. There’s no formal dining area, but most people either grab their food to go or hang around their cars, enjoying the casual, community-driven atmosphere. Service is quick and friendly, even when there’s a bit of a line, and the staff seem genuinely appreciative of their customers.

If there’s any limitation, it’s simply that you’re working with a food truck setup-so seating and weather can play a role in your experience. But honestly, that’s part of the appeal. It feels authentic, unpretentious, and focused on what matters most: serving good food that people actually want to eat.

What People's Say About Place

I visited a friend in Killeen (I’m from NJ) and we went to this place the last day I visited and we both agreed it was the best food we have had this whole trip! I ordered 4 birria tacos which came with consommé for about $17. Although this may be pricy to some, I’ve paid $20 for 2 birria tacos back in NJ. My friend ordered the birria ramen with a side of tortillas and a drink which came to about $15. Both the tacos and ramen were so fresh, flavorful, and packed with meat. Other bonuses: the woman behind the counter was also very nice, there is nicely decorated outdoor seating with another food truck close by, and they accept both cash and card. Definitely a must-try if you’re in town!

Today was my first time here. I just tried Birria tacos for the first time last week. I never order them because I didn't know what it was. But now I'm hooked. The owner was really nice and professional. Out of all the Birria I've had so far this place is my favorite. AND they give you four tacos instead of three This place was worth the drive and the blazing heat. When I crave Birria again this will be my go to place. I highly recommend this place!!

I had a taste for birria tacos and wanted to check out a new spot instead of going to my usual food truck for them. I've passed Tatazo several times, but I finally decided to give them a try. The birria tacos had really good flavor, but they were soggy instead of crispy by the time I got home. It was disappointing, but seeing as they at least had flavor, I powered through and finished them. The consumé helped, and unlike some places, it wasn't just a cup of grease and oil. The horchata was better than a lot I've had in the area, so there are no complaints on that end. I'd try the birria tacos again, but I'd eat them in the car there. I do plan to try other menu items as well. If you like birria and know how hard it can be to find good flavorful birria tacos, I think you'd appreciate these.

El Patron Taco truck was a hit with my family. The littles loved the chicken quesadillas. I had the poboy sandwich (battered and fried chicken breast with slivers of hot dog and avocado … I didn’t like it. The Birria tacos were delicious. This is my #1 choice.

The Barria Taco plate was really good. I would recommend eating it as soon as you get your plate because the tacos were soggy, not crispy at all, by the time I got home, which was a 5 minute drive away. The food is a bit on the pricey side, but I still intend on trying their other dishes at some point. I think this food truck & Tacos El Gym (food truck located in the O-mart parking lot) are the best in town...........that I have tried so far.

Delicioso! I’ve had Birria Tacos in many different cities and states but this place right here is hands down the best I’ve had! The couple running this food truck was very nice and had my order done pretty quickly! Was at Killeen Auto Sales talking to the guys about cars and where could I find Birra Tacos in town, Jim at the dealership had mentioned this place! Wow! Super impressed! They even have AGUA DE JAMAICA (pronounced ha-MY-cah) which is one of my favorite Mexican drinks This is coming from someone who’s been traveling on business for the past 16 years of my life and eats out almost every meal, everyday. Would most definitely come again and highly recommend

Amazing food! Kind service! The barria tacos are delicious!
